1910 Postcard of City Hall

The Town Hall at the corner of Front Street and Broad Boulevard had been overcrowded for many years, so it was razed shortly after the new City Building was dedicated in October 1952.

1958 2nd Street

The new building is on the west side of Second Street, between Oakwood Drive and Stow Street and includes the police department on the north side of the building.

When many of the local municipalities decided to have a municipal court instead of a mayor's court, the court was added to the Cuyahoga Falls City Building on Second Street.

Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital

1960's Then known as Green Cross

Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital traces its roots to 1943, when a small group of osteopathic physicians and surgeons in Akron purchased and renovated a building at 15 Broad Street that had formerly housed the East Akron Community Hospital. The 35-bed, non-profit Green Cross General Hospital opened its doors on September 20th that year, with officers Arthur L. Harbarger, D.O., president; E.L. Jay, D.O. and L.O. Wilkins, D.O., vice president; and H.S. Jeffers, D.O., secretary-treasurer. William S. Konold served as consultant-manager. A decade later, ground was broken for a new hospital at 1900 23rd Street in nearby Cuyahoga Falls. The new 78-bed Green Cross Hospital, funded by $200,000 in Hill-Burton funds with the remainder raised by subscription, was formally opened to the public on December 4, 1954. The hospital experienced steady growth, and by 1968 - its twenty-fifth anniversary - Green Cross boasted accommodations for 275 patients and extensive surgery, radiology, laboratory, and medical education facilities. An ambulatory-care center was added in 1975. In 1978, the hospital changed its name to Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital to better identify it with the area it served, and announced the opening of a family practice center. The full-service, primary-care hospital remained a freestanding osteopathic hospital until 2001, when it became affiliated with Summa Health System. Used from www.summahealth.org
